Jamroc

Brandon and I used to live right across the street from a little Jamaican restaurant named Jamroc which is located on the coast highway in Encinitas. We ate there at least once a week and luckily when we moved it was only a few miles away. The tiny restaurant is filled with vibrant colors, live music on the weekends and the most delicious food. Although I will admit I've only ever ordered one thing.

In the spirit of island living, Brandon ordered a red stripe and we enjoyed fresh, hot coconut bread while we waited for our food. They actually bring the dough to a local bakery who bakes it for them everyday.
My rude date reading the paper at the table
The brightly colored walls capture the feel of island life, and for a tiny second we can pretend that it's not a work night.
My absolute favorite dish (and the only one I've ever ordered) is the Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya. Pieces of chicken and slices of sausage with bell peppers, black beans and onions in a spicy sauce made directly in heaven is poured over a bed of rice.
It also comes with a piece of fried plantain bread which is slightly sweet. It's has a slight crunch on the outside and it's light and fluffy inside, almost like a donut.
The service is always fast and friendly, and they kept my diet coke refilled (a must for me!)
If you're in the Encinitas area I couldn't recommend Jamroc enough.
