Brandon went camping this weekend with the guys, so Kandi came over for the weekend for some girly time. Friday evening I decided I'd be a cute wife and bake Brandon a batch of peanut butter cookies to take camping with him the next morning. I envisioned all of his friends eating the cookies around the campfire and raving about Brandon's wife and her amazing baking skills. Kandi and I got to work baking, and right before we were about to start rolling the dough into balls, I realized we forgot the brown sugar. Oops. So I mixed it in at the end and then we rolled it in sugar like instructed.
Waiting patiently for them to cool... |
Let's just say the cookies were a disaster. I picked one up after it was done cooling, and it crumbled in my hands. Needless to say, he didn't take them camping, and I didn't win any wife awards.
Saturday morning Kandi, Kelly and I went to the Shine Beach Clean Up (pics to come tomorrow!) and then yesterday Brandon and I were finally going to see The Hunger Games. Thirty minutes into the movie, the power went out and all 500 of us had to leave. I was CRUSHED. We spent the rest of the evening enjoying homemade chili at home while it poured rain outside. We're gonna try again to go this evening. Wish us luck.
In better news, Melissa from PB&J won the My Memories Suite Giveaway. Lucky comment #10 :-) Email me girl, and I'll send you the info for your new software!
Hope Monday goes easy on everyone, it can be such a bully.

I have an awesome recipe for peanut butter cookies I posted on my blog a little bit ago! Shoot me an e-mail I'll give it to you, they're SO easy- 3 ingredients only!!
Your luck sounds almost as good as mine this past weekend! Hopefully you're able to get to see the whole Hunger Games tonight...it's amazing!
i would be fuming mad. i would eat ALL the pb cookies. good luck trying again tonight!
xx jes
This is a great story! I'm sure you still got the best-wife award for the effort. And picturing the men around the fire talking about how amazing you are is something I envision my man and his friends doing to ;)...I don't believe that's the reality of what goes on though!
These are gorgeous pictures!!!!
I had a similar baking experience a couple of weeks ago...I made muffins and even scooped the batter into the muffin tins and realized I didn't use baking powder!! It was so messy putting the batter back in the bowl...disaster!
What a tease at the movie!! I hope they gave you something really great to make up for that.
awe no fun when cookies don't turn out right... you might of had the oven too hot therefore it cooked them ALOT faster and if you don't take them off the cookie sheet onto a cooling rack they still cook..its a mess.. but at least you tried & can learn from it!!
good luck next time you want to make them!!
xoxo

hahaha! Your peanut butter cookie experience sounds like my rice krispy bar experience. There are some treats that I don't understand how I mess up, but it happens.
Such a bummer on the Hunger Games! You'll have to try seeing it again {I hope you got your money back}! I really enjoyed the movie!!
hahahah... The poor cookies! :(
Brandon's face is priceless.
I hate to laugh out loud at this...but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
xoxo
P.S. good luck for tonight's Hunger Games! They better effing play it in its entirety!
I would have cried if that happened to me! The Hunger Games Part...maybe the cooking part too if I had a rough day :) It happens to the best of us! I hope you get to see the Hunger Games successfully!!!! It was GREAT.
Can we just talk about how this sounds like something that would happen to me (or has happened to me in the past). I always forget things when I am baking lol
Haha how cruel of me to laugh.. I know I know. I just think its soo cute how you tried and envisioned all the guys LOVING those cookies.. totally something I would do!
Atleast the hubby was a good sport about it.. the picture made me LOL!
what a funny story! they look good!
I would have been so mad about the movie! I had a baking fail last week. I made cornbread muffins but forgot to PAM the tin and they weren't exactly the easiest muffins to get out.
Bummer on the cookies (I probably would have eaten them anyways - eek!). AND WHAT!... I hope they gave you free passes to the next movie. What a disappointment!

i did that once while baking red velvet cupcakes. i forgot the butter! how, i have no idea. so i figured as long as it's added who cares? it was a disaster. i still sent them to a party but they weren't the best. :( i wouldn't think that adding the sugar in last would make them crumble but i guess since it didn't cream with the butter it didn't incorporate. weird!
yay! about the giveaway! i'll e-mail you. xoxo
Oh no! At least you all could laugh about it - but kitchen disasters really stink :(
I am so excited to be your newest blog follower!
yummers! i am going to make some now :) sorry about the movie, though!
those pb cookies look good, I am off sugar for a month or so, so I would still totally eat those haha! Hunger games power outage, they better have compensated you big time!
Bummer about the cookies! I guess it DOES matter what order you follow on a recipe. I'd have still eaten your cookies, though, even if I had to use a spoon!
Power outage at The Hunger Games!??!!? #OhtheInjustice
WOW! That was a lot of unexpected stuff for you, missy! Those cookies. Oh, my gosh! Did you sprinkle the crumbs on fro-yo? Or add some milk to make cookie mush? ;-)
And then the movie theatre?! What the what, Universe? Hahaha!
